Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Activities
The SIR Mentoring Program encourages companies to engage their employees in a CSR activity that results in a win-win situation for the company, its employees (mentors) and the mentees.
SIR offers two kinds of customized mentoring programs:
SIR Pre Hire Mentoring Program allows company employees to have a direct impact on helping and supporting a refugee start a new life in Germany. This mentoring program focuses on three core subjects:
- Employment, and
- Cultural Integration.
During the program, companies are able to become personally acquainted with various candidates and to see if they are interested in any of these mentees.
SIR Post Hire Mentoring Program that facilitates the integration of newly hired employees at the hiring company. The program provides a smooth transition for both parties during the first six (6) months of employment. This customized six (6) month program serves to accelerate the professional development of the newly hired employee as well as smoothly overcome cultural and communication mis-understandings within the team.
To prepare your company’s employees to become highly successful mentors, SIR has developed a comprehensive training workshop for mentors. This training program can be held on one day or split into two half day training sessions. It can be held on your company’s premises or off-site. Shortly after the training program has ended, SIR then assigns two mentors to one mentee using its database of over 500 job candidates (mentees). SIR takes many factors into consideration, such as chemistry, skills, expertise, when matching mentors with mentee, since personal attributes are critical to making the mentor/mentee relationships successful.
SIR offers the use of the Lale platform to keep track all mentor/mentee pairs and remains the coordinator and contact person for all mentoring pairs throughout the entire six month program. SIR can also work with your company’s internal communication system (i.e. Salesforce), if preferred. To ensure a successful mentoring program, SIR recommends the support of one or two internal company employees to help with coordination. This coordination role is a great way for employees who wish to be involved in mentoring but cannot commit to personally meeting their mentee on a regular basis due to frequent travel responsibilities, etc.
To promote integration and harmony among German citizens, refugees and immigrants, SIR organizes Intercultural Day for companies in Munich.
Prior to the Intercultural Day Event, SIR has created a special half day workshop for management and employees that prepares them for a successful and memorable event.
This workshop covers various integration themes such as how to welcome a new employee undergoing the asylum approval process or with immigrant background to intercultural communication and awareness exercises and workshops
Networking Day is similar to Intercultural Day but on a much smaller scale. It could be a lunch or local sport or game event with just four to eight employees and a few refugees and immigrants.
Learn on the Job Week
Learn the Job Week is a five day program whereby SIR candidates have the opportunity to rotate through various departments at your company. This win-win program gives SIR job candidates the chance to explore their job interests, talents and skills while your company has the good fortune of discovering future employees, before the competition. Your company can test the waters with different SIR job candidates over the course of a week.
Intercultural Communication Guide & Workshop
This three day workshop allows your employees and SIR job candidates to meet face to face and exchange information about one’s respective customs and habits not only at the work place, but in other settings as well. SIR has developed a unique workshop that covers the majority of relevant intercultural communication themes and inter-active exercises for all participants.
